At Cap Inclusive, we’re all about turning Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) talk into real action. Think of us as your partners in harnessing the power of an inclusive culture to drive financial success.
This month’s newsletter focuses on the importance of taking breaks and recharging. Each edition brings you insights, and the latest trends shaping DEI in tech, finance, and innovation. So grab your morning cup (or should we say cap) and let’s start brewing meaningful change together…
Feeling burned out? You’re not alone. A Robert Half study found over 60% of Canadian workers are clocking more than 40 hours a week, and 38% are more burned out than last year. The pandemic blurred the lines between work and home, leaving many of us always “on”.
The latest research from the World Health Organization says working over 35 hours a week can significantly increase the risk of heart attack. It’s time to rethink that work-life balance and give yourself a break!
Unplugging is key, but downtime is also a golden chance to learn new skills or polish up old ones. Work is evolving at lightning speed thanks to tech, demographic shifts, and changing work styles. These changes have created new jobs, but often without the necessary skills to fill them, leading to a significant skill gap.
Since 2015, required job skill sets have changed by 25%, and by 2028, 44% of workers’ skills will need an upgrade.
To tackle this, companies should focus on a skill-based talent approach. This means valuing a candidate’s abilities and knowledge over just their education or past jobs. By conducting a skill-gap analysis, organizations can pinpoint and address the skills they need.
For employees, now’s the perfect time to beef up your career portfolio. Taking time off and disconnecting not only provides much-needed rest but also creates space for creativity and personal growth. Whether it’s diving into AI & Machine Learning, sharpening your critical thinking, discovering new skills, or exploring areas of interest, using your downtime wisely can keep you ahead of the game and ready for future opportunities.
According to the American Institute of Stress, 40% of workers say their job is very or extremely stressful. This stress doesn’t just impact health–it affects productivity and job performance too. Research shows that for every additional 10 hours of vacation time employees take, their year-end performance improves by 8%. So, what’s the secret to beating burnout? Take a vacation!
At Cap Inclusive, we get it–the world’s a busy place! Sometimes, you just need to hit the pause button. That’s why we’ve created a Time-Off Policy to help our team refresh and boost their productivity.
Equal Time Off: We treat all forms of time off equally, including vacations, sick leave, and holidays, eliminating favouritism and the need to distinguish between reasons for taking a break.
Mandatory Recharge: We offer unlimited time off but require employees to take at least two weeks of paid leave per year to prevent burnout and ensure everyone gets the rest they need.
